Role

Our engineering team is in the need of a seasoned backend developer capable of building features, design and implement API methods, and improve the performance and reliability of our systems as we rapidly scale our product and organization.

You'll be working on the Lowkey application and other customer-facing parts of our services built mainly on Swift, Kotlin and React Native.

You’ll be part of a cross-functional team that’s responsible for the full software development life cycle, from conception to deployment. We’re a collaborative team who genuinely enjoys working together with a cross-functional team of product managers, designers, frontend, backend, iOS and Android to make Lowkey a better product. We are looking for engineers that understand that simplicity and reliability are aspects of a system to be carefully calculated with every decision made.

We want to build new features and improve our existing products like Media, Video and Chat. We look for people who pay attention to detail, who have a design sense, and most importantly: have compassion for our users.

A taste of our scale and reach:

• Our most active Users spend over 6 hours active and send +1000 messages per day.
• We plan to adopt 200,000 active college student users this fall.

What you'll work on daily

• Work on Lowkey in Javascript/NodeJS, Express, MongoDB, Nginx, AWS and Docker.
• You'll brainstorm with Product Managers, Designers, Backend, and Frontend Engineers on your team to conceptualize and build new features for our growing user base.
• You’ll produce high-quality results by contributing heavily to team projects that have a significant impact on the business.
• Architect elegant, maintainable and scalable code with a focus on autonomy and support from the team
• You’ll actively own team features or systems and define their long-term health, while also improving the health of surrounding systems.
